Happy Independence Day!

While I am waiting for the kids to return from watching fireworks, I thought I would put up some pictures from today. We have a small town parade every year and sometimes the kids are in it for different reasons. Jacob and Daniel were on the T-ball float this year.  The parade, in my opinion, is really just an excuse for a lot of the people to ride their four wheelers on the road, seeing how it is usually against the law. A lot of it is advertising for local businesses or riding in old cars, but it is a tradition and everyone gets candy. It is one of the few times a year the whole family gets together and then we have a cookout. I have never been much of a parade kind of person, but the kids really enjoy it and like I said, it's a tradition. It is pretty funny though to see what some people come up with. Mostly I get a kick out of everyone, even a lot of adults, picking candy up off of the ground. I am not sure if Shannon, Adam's sister, is really just helping the kids. I think Hannah may have been more selective. It was nice hearing Daniel telling Hannah that she had to remove her hat so as not to disrespect the flag. He has really caught on to a lot of flag ettiquette. A really cool thing that happened tonight that I tried to get a picture was of the deer in our yard that wasn't really scared of anything, just a little jittery. There was a really neat picture of it by our flag, but I hadn't turned the flash off so it came out too dark. Oh well. We see deer all the time, I just have never been able to open the door and get a picture before. Maybe another time. Anyway, I hope everyone had a happy Independence Day. I am so grateful for my country I live in and the freedoms we so often take for granted. We are not a perfect country but it stands for so much hope. Enjoy the pictures!
Ready for the float! Hannah in Jacob's uniform from last year.
